Happy hour at the local bar with half-price drinks for employees and strong WiFi is always a good place to write. :)
I am laughing at myself because, honestly, I am not one to drink, and one sip of alcohol creates a very creative mind.
These days, I have a big smile on my face. I feel emotionally lighter and, honestly, even physically. Every time I remind myself that I am happily homeless, I relax into the universe and the beauty of life.
Work is hectic! It seems like everyone is on spring break and has decided to come ski in Winter Park. I absolutely love it!
On a sad note, our amazing boss Melissa and her right hand, Sean, left at the beginning of the month. Chandler, Mariah, and I are running the Lost and Found department smoothly by now, but we do miss Melissa and Sean.
You know how your left shoulder and your right sometimes have a major conflict? Well, it's heated right now in my world.
Remember my injury? I am still in pain, but I am in a much better place. The war between my inner wild, adventurous self and my wiser self is in full swing.
Are you kidding me? No skiing? No hiking? Come on.
It is heartbreaking, because on my last two runs, I finally convinced myself that I am a good skier and strong enough to ski from the summit. But for now, I am making the wise decision to let go of skiing for the season. I have to think about the big picture, which is my upcoming travel time and many hikes ahead.
If you know me, you know I do not know how to sit still. :) I had to find another way to express all the wonderful energy inside me.
Well… I found the perfect creative way to rejuvenate my soul.
I have been working on my next book these past few weeks!
Chapter TWO!
Traveling with the Wind to Find My Soul - A Nomad's Memoir
I am working hard to prepare it for publication in mid-April because May will be a traveling month, and I am SO excited about it! I cannot wait to be back on the open road. Freedom is always raw and real when the landscape stretches wild and free in front of me.
For this post, I thought I would do something a little different and take you along with me on my morning and evening rides on the Cabriolet.
This little ride is one of my favorite parts of the day. It makes me feel like a child again—like I am heading to an amusement park instead of work. And with a view like this? It is pure magic.
A Few Short and Funny Lost and Found Stories
A sweet lady approached our window. She started saying she had lost her husband. At this point, I couldn't stop myself from cutting her off and saying, "Would you like to fill out a lost and found form?"
Lucky for me, she was on the same wavelength as me, and we both started laughing.
She explained that all she really needed was to call her husband—since he had her phone. Of course, I let her into our tiny office to make the call.
I am sorry, I cannot help but smile at the thought of how many women would love to fill out our blue form for a lost husband… and never come back to claim him. :))
And here is another funny (and happy) story.
Whenever we get a lost wallet, I cringe if I cannot find the owner's contact info. Just knowing the headache they will have to go through. Canceling cards and replacing IDs is painful.
So when another wallet landed on my desk, I was relieved to find the owner’s phone number in our database. I called right away, knowing the person on the other end was probably full of anxiety.
Ryan answered, half asleep. I apologized immediately, but what can I say? I was so excited that I forgot it was Sunday and only 8:30 in the morning. When I am excited, time just melts away.
The funny part?
Ryan had no idea his wallet was even missing. :))
Sometimes, blissful ignorance is a gift. :)
The wind was so strong that I had to remove the original audio from the snowy day ride, but I hope you still enjoy these short videos.
